The Illinois Tollway is committed to increased transparency, public involvement and engaging stakeholders in capital planning.

In August 2011, the Illinois Tollway's comprehensive, 18-month public review and discussion of potential future projects culminated with the approval of the 15-year, $12 billion Move Illinois: The Illinois Tollway Driving the Future program. As part of this process, the Tollway hosted five Capital Planning Forums in July 2011 with community and business leaders across Northern Illinois and held 15 public hearings in the 12 counties served by the Tollway in August 2011.

Currently, planning and community outreach efforts include the Tollway's I-90 Corridor Planning Council and the Illinois Route 53/120 Blue Ribbon Advisory Council – both of which are engaging stakeholders and the communities the Tollway serves in discussion about capital planning needs for the Tollway and improving transportation for the region as part of the Tollway's Move Illinois Program.
