10/06/2008 Illinois Tollway Construction Alerts
Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-94/I-80)
Off-peak closures are scheduled on the North Tri-State Tollway for pavement repair work, pavement striping, and barrier wall work.

October 6 – Overnight Closures
  • One lane in each direction between Half Day Road and IL Route 176 will close at 8 p.m. tonight, October 6, for pavement striping work. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7.
  • One southbound lane between Russell Road and Grand Avenue will close at 9 p.m. tonight, October 6, for barrier wall work. The lane will reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7.
October 7 – Off-Peak Lane Closures
  • One northbound lane between Mill Creek and Wadsworth Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, for a concrete pour.
  • One lane in each direction between Dempster Street and Lake Cook Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, for bridge work and pavement repairs.
October 7 – 18 – Off-Peak Closures
  • Off-peak closures are scheduled on several off-system roads under I-294 for overhead bridge work. One lane in each direction will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, on 95th Street, Harlem Avenue, Southwest Highway, 107th Street, 111th Street, Ridgeland Avenue, 131st Street, and 115th Street. The same closures are planned daily through Saturday, October 18.
Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90)
Overnight closures are scheduled for bridge repair work.

October 6 – Overnight Closures
  • One lane in each direction between Newburg Road and the I-39 Interchange will close at 7 p.m. tonight, October 6, for bridge repair work. All lanes are scheduled to reopen at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7.
Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355)
Overnight lane closures are scheduled for bridge work.

October 6 – Overnight Closures
  • One northbound lane between Boughton Road and 71st Street and between Maple Avenue and Ogden Avenue will close at 8 p.m. tonight, October 6, for bridge repair work. The same closure is planned between Boughton Road and 71st Street on Tuesday, October 7, following the same schedule.
Work Zone Safety

A 45 m.p.h. speed limit is in effect 24/7 in all construction zones, whether or not workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. Illinois State Police have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker. Keep Workers Alive – Drive 45.
