Violation Enforcement Questions
Violations are missed tolls that are not paid within 7 days of occurrence. Each violation carries a fine of $20 plus the original cost of the toll. If the violation is not taken care of in 21 days, as allowed by law, fees may escalate. All individuals receiving a toll violation notice can request a hearing within the 21 days allowed by law. An independent hearing officer presides over the hearing.

A missed toll occurs when a driver goes through a toll area without making payment. This can happen in Open Road Tolling (ORT) lanes as well as at cash lanes without gates. If payment for the toll is made within 7 days, the driver pays only for the missed toll. If payment is not made within 7 days each missed toll becomes a violation. Each violation carries a fine of $20 plus the original cost of the toll. If the violation is not taken care of within the 21 days allowed by law the fees may escalate.
