2008
IL Route 120 (Blevidere Road) Bridge Improvements The Illinois Tollway rebuilt and widenend the North Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-94) throughout a 39-mile corridor in order to provide congestion relief. The IL Route 120 (Belvidere Road) Bridge over the Tollway was reconstructed and lengthened in order to accommodate the mainline widening. The project included reconstructing and widening to four lanes in each direction of the North Tri-State Tollway between Dempster Street and IL Route 173 and reconstructing the less congested section north of IL Route 173 to Russell Road. The section between Russell Road and the Wisconsin state line was resurfaced.
2007
Northwest Tollway (I-90) at IL Route 173 The Illinois Tollway and the Illinois Department of Transportation have completed a project to rebuild and widen IL Route 173 under the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) and to construct a full-access interchange at IL Route 173 and I-90.
North-South Tollway (I-355) Intermittent Pavement Repairs The Illinois Tollway has completed pavement repairs on several miles of the North-South Tollway (I-355) from 75th Street to the Army Trail Road Toll Plaza to provide a smoother and safer ride for Tollway customers.
Tri-State Tollway (I-294) Bridge Repairs The Illinois Tollway has completed repairs on 12 bridges on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) between I-55 and Mannheim Road.
Cable Median Barrier Installation Complete The Illinois Tollway has completed installation of a cable median barrier and upgraded existing guardrails on the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) between IL Route 56 and IL Route 251. A cable median barrier is a traffic device that enhances safety for Tollway customers by absorbing the impact of vehicles crossing into the median and helping to prevent crossover collisions.
Joliet Ramp Plaza Reconfiguration The Illinois Tollway has completed a project to reconfigure the Joliet Road ramp plaza on the South Tri-State Tollway (I-294) in order to provide two I-PASS Only (IPO) lanes in each direction at the plaza that connects I-294 to I-55. Reconfiguring the plaza increases plaza capacity and I-PASS users now have two lanes for non-stop travel. This work was part of the Tollway’s Congestion-Relief Program to reduce travel times.
Northwest Tollway (I-90) at IL Route 173 The Illinois Tollway is working with the Illinois Department of Transportation on their project to
rebuild and widen IL Route 173 under the Northwest Tollway (I-90) and to construct a fullaccess
interchange at IL Route 173 and I-90.
I-90 at U.S. 20 The Illinois Tollway rebuilt the flyover ramp bridge over the Northwest Tollway (I-90) at U.S. 20 to provide a smoother ride for Tollway customers. The flyover ramp bridge serves as an entrance ramp from U.S. 20 to eastbound I-90 and an exit ramp from eastbound I-90 to U.S. 20.
Edens Spur (I-94) Ramp at Waukegan Road The Illinois Tollway and the Illinois Department of Transportation have completed the project to reconstruct the exit from the eastbound Edens Spur (I-94) at Waukegan Road (IL Route 43).
2006
South Tristate Phase I Completed (I-294/80) Tri-State Tollway (I-294/80) Rebuild & Widen Phase I The Illinois Tollway has rebuilt and widened the section of the Tri-State Tollway from 167th Street to IL Route 394 to provide congestion relief for the Southland Corridor.
Northwest Tollway (I-90) Roadway Rehabilitation The Illinois Tollway has rehabilitated 14 miles of the Northwest Tollway (I-90) between I-39 and
the Rockton Road interchange to provide a smoother and safer ride for Tollway customers.
Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88), Rebuild & Widen The Illinois Tollway has reconstructed and widened to four lanes the section of the Reagan Memorial Tollway between IL Route 59 and Washington Street., commonly referred to as the “washboard,” in order to provide a smoother ride for Tollway customers.
Northwest Tollway (I-90) Roadway Rehabilitation The Illinois Tollway has completed rehabilitating 14 miles of the Northwest Tollway (I-90) between I-39 and the Rockton Road interchange to provide a smoother and safer ride for Tollway customers.
Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) Roadway Resurfacing The Illinois Tollway has resurfaced four miles of eastbound pavement on the Reagan Memorial Tollway from IL Route 47 to IL Route 56. Resurfaced pavement provides a smoother, safer ride for Tollway customers.
