Introduction
This section serves as a central repository for Tollway Engineering standards and publications. Documents found on this site will principally be used by Tollway Project Managers (PM) to guide Design Section Engineers (DSE) and Construction Managers (CM) during design development and contract implementation. The most current and up-to-date standard drawings, standard specifications and special provisions, manuals and guidelines adopted by the Tollway will be posted.
Navigation
This section is designed to be simple and user-friendly. Documents are divided into five main sections as follows:
- Consultant Contract Forms - Professional Service Agreements and Proposal Forms
- Drawings - Standard Drawings (civil and electrical)
- Manuals - Engineering Department Manuals and Guides
- Policies & Guidelines - Technical Memoranda, Tollway Policies and Commonly Used Forms
- Specifications - Standard Specifications and Special Provisions
- Permits -
Permit Section controls and monitors work and activities performed on Tollway property by outside entities that are not employed or under contract to the Illinois Tollway.
Implementation
As the Tollway proceeds with migrating from exclusive Tollway standards to the use of IDOT standards, Many of the posted standards will be modified or replaced. Designers are advised to check back often depending on the stage of their design development to ensure they are using the most current and up-to-date standard. For new contracts, IDOT standards are to be followed whenever possible. During the interim period, until full implementation of IDOT standards are enacted, users are instructed to work with their respective Project Manager to ensure the most current standard is used for their project(s). Standards migration will be implemented in a progressive fashion as standards are vetted, authored and adopted by the Illinois Tollway.
This section is intended to replace the 'DSE/CSE/CM Kickoff Package' that was routinely furnished to new consultant firms working on Tollway projects. You may be re-directed to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) web site whenever Tollway standards reference IDOT directly. Documents found herein do not replace any ISO or web-based project management system (Meridian-Proliance) documentation requirements.
