 Bridge Repairs – Touhy Avenue to IL Route 25 The Illinois Tollway has completed repairs on six bridges on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) between Touhy Avenue and IL Route 25. |
| Grand Avenue (IL Route 132) Bridge Rebuild & Lengthen Project The Grand Avenue (IL Route 132) Bridge over the Tri-State Tollway (I-94) has been reconstructed and lengthened in order to accommodate the North Tri-State Rebuild & Widen Project. |
| Washington Street to Finley Road Rebuild & Widen Project The Illinois Tollway has completed work to rebuild and widen the 5.7-mile section of the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) between Washington Street and Finley Road to reduce congestion for Tollway customers. The project is one of several underway throughout a 23-mile corridor from Oak Brook to North Aurora. This work is part of the Tollway’s Congestion-Relief Program to reduce travel times. |
| Lake Cook Road Bridge Replacement and Roadway Widening The Illinois Tollway and the Cook County Highway Department have completed a joint project to replace and widen the Lake Cook Road Bridge over the North Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-94).
The project was part of the Illinois Tollway’s North Tri-State Tollway Rebuild & Widen Project to provide congestion relief in the 39-mile corridor between Dempster Street and the Wisconsin state line.

| Open Road Tolling Conversion The work to convert 20 mainline toll plazas to Open Road Tolling (ORT) for non-stop I-PASS travel, which began in the summer of 2005, is complete and all plazas are in their final configurations. In 2005 (Phase I), ORT lanes debuted at 9 toll plazas. ORT lanes were delivered at 11 more plazas in 2006, enabling the Tollway to deliver congestion-relief to motorists as soon as possible. In 2007, modifications were made in toll booth lanes at seven plazas. These projects were part of the Tollway’s Congestion-Relief Program to reduce travel times. |
| Touhy Avenue Toll Plaza Rebuild Project The Illinois Tollway has rebuilt the Touhy Avenue Toll Plaza as part of a project to reconstruct and widen to four lanes the 4.5-mile section of the Central Tri-State Tollway between Balmoral Avenue and Dempster Street in order to provide congestion relief and reduced travel times for Tollway customers. In addition to rebuilding the cash side of the Touhy Toll Plaza, a fourth Open Road Tolling (ORT) lane will be constructed and opened in 2009. This work is part of the Tollway’s Congestion-Relief Program to reduce travel times. |
| Willow Road Bridge – Reconstruct and Widen The Illinois Tollway is rebuilding and widening the North Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-94) throughout a 39-mile corridor in order to provide congestion relief. In a joint project with IDOT, the Tollway reconstructed and widened the Willow Road Bridge in order to accommodate the Tollway’s Rebuild & Widen Project. As part of the project, the Tollway rebuilt about a mile of Willow Road from Sanders Road to Landwehr Road. |
| IL Route 120 (Blevidere Road) Bridge Improvements The Illinois Tollway rebuilt and widenend the North Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-94) throughout a 39-mile corridor in order to provide congestion relief. The IL Route 120 (Belvidere Road) Bridge over the Tollway was reconstructed and lengthened in order to accommodate the mainline widening. The project included reconstructing and widening to four lanes in each direction of the North Tri-State Tollway between Dempster Street and IL Route 173 and reconstructing the less congested section north of IL Route 173 to Russell Road. The section between Russell Road and the Wisconsin state line was resurfaced. |

| Northwest Tollway (I-90) at IL Route 173 The Illinois Tollway and the Illinois Department of Transportation have completed a project to rebuild and widen IL Route 173 under the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) and to construct a full-access interchange at IL Route 173 and I-90. |
| North-South Tollway (I-355) Intermittent Pavement Repairs The Illinois Tollway has completed pavement repairs on several miles of the North-South Tollway (I-355) from 75th Street to the Army Trail Road Toll Plaza to provide a smoother and safer ride for Tollway customers. |
| Tri-State Tollway (I-294) Bridge Repairs The Illinois Tollway has completed repairs on 12 bridges on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) between I-55 and Mannheim Road. |
| Cable Median Barrier Installation Complete The Illinois Tollway has completed installation of a cable median barrier and upgraded existing guardrails on the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) between IL Route 56 and IL Route 251. A cable median barrier is a traffic device that enhances safety for Tollway customers by absorbing the impact of vehicles crossing into the median and helping to prevent crossover collisions. |
| Joliet Ramp Plaza Reconfiguration The Illinois Tollway has completed a project to reconfigure the Joliet Road ramp plaza on the South Tri-State Tollway (I-294) in order to provide two I-PASS Only (IPO) lanes in each direction at the plaza that connects I-294 to I-55. Reconfiguring the plaza increases plaza capacity and I-PASS users now have two lanes for non-stop travel. This work was part of the Tollway’s Congestion-Relief Program to reduce travel times. |
| I-90 at U.S. 20 The Illinois Tollway rebuilt the flyover ramp bridge over the Northwest Tollway (I-90) at U.S. 20 to provide a smoother ride for Tollway customers. The flyover ramp bridge serves as an entrance ramp from U.S. 20 to eastbound I-90 and an exit ramp from eastbound I-90 to U.S. 20.

| Edens Spur (I-94) Ramp at Waukegan Road The Illinois Tollway and the Illinois Department of Transportation have completed the project to reconstruct the exit from the eastbound Edens Spur (I-94) at Waukegan Road (IL Route 43). |

| South Tristate Phase I Completed (I-294/80) Tri-State Tollway (I-294/80) Rebuild & Widen Phase I The Illinois Tollway has rebuilt and widened the section of the Tri-State Tollway from 167th Street to IL Route 394 to provide congestion relief for the Southland Corridor.

| Northwest Tollway (I-90) Roadway Rehabilitation The Illinois Tollway has rehabilitated 14 miles of the Northwest Tollway (I-90) between I-39 and
the Rockton Road interchange to provide a smoother and safer ride for Tollway customers. |
| Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88), Rebuild & Widen The Illinois Tollway has reconstructed and widened to four lanes the section of the Reagan Memorial Tollway between IL Route 59 and Washington Street., commonly referred to as the “washboard,” in order to provide a smoother ride for Tollway customers. |
| Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-94/I-80) Intermittent Pavement Repairs The Illinois Tollway has completed pavement repairs on several miles of the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) and the Edens Spur (I-94) to provide a smoother and safer ride for Tollway customers. |
| Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) Roadway Resurfacing The Illinois Tollway has resurfaced four miles of eastbound pavement on the Reagan Memorial Tollway from IL Route 47 to IL Route 56. Resurfaced pavement provides a smoother, safer ride for Tollway customers. |
| Open Road Tolling Now Available at all 20 Mainline Toll Plazas ORT is now providing congestion relief at all 20 mainline toll plazas. Some additional work continues to provide additional ORT lanes and to complete work on the cash plazas. |
