The Illinois Tollway is rebuilding and widening the 5-mile section of the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) between Finley Road and IL Route 83 to reduce congestion for Tollway customers. The project is one of several underway throughout a 23-mile corridor from Oak Brook to North Aurora . This work is part of the Tollway's Congestion-Relief Program to reduce travel times.
Pre-stage work for the project to rebuild & widen I-88 to four lanes between Finley Road and IL Route 83 began in December 2007 and construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2009. The project includes rebuilding and widening from three lanes to four in each direction.

today's daily report of system-wide lane closures...]
Between Finley Road and the Meyers Road Toll Plaza, the two Local Lanes are now shifted to the right onto new pavement and work has begun to complete reconstruction of the inside lanes. Traffic entering eastbound I-88 from Highland Avenue now has access to the Open Road Tolling lanes at the Meyers Road Toll Plaza. A traffic shift is scheduled overnight on Saturday, October 3, to complete the same traffic shift from the Meyers Road Toll Plaza to IL Route 83.
Eastbound traffic is shifted into a counterflow work zone configuration with one Express Lane crossing over to the westbound side of the road and two Local Lanes on the eastbound side of the road, providing three lanes of traffic in both directions during peak periods. Traffic using the Express Lane does not have access to exit at I-355 North, Highland Avenue, or Midwest Road, and does not have access to the cash lanes at the Meyers Road Toll Plaza. The next available exit from the Express Lane is the Tri-State Tollway (I-294). Only cars with I-PASS are permitted to use the Express Lane. Traffic in the Local Lanes has access to all exits. Westbound traffic is using the three right lanes to accommodate the Express Lane. A traffic shift is scheduled in early fall to move the eastbound Local Lanes onto new pavement on the right and to begin reconstructing the inside lanes.
