Photo Enforcement Van
Photo Enforcement Vans are a tool used to help reduce fatalities in work zones.
At least 85 percent of the fatalities in work zones involve motorists.
The main goal is to get drivers to obey the warning signs and reduce their speeds to the posted limits in Work Zones. Those who choose to ignore these warnings will be ticketed. Work zone speed limits are in effect 24/7, even if no workers are present.
- First time offenders face a $375 fine and mandatory court date.
- Second time offenders face $1,000 fine and loss of license for 90 days.
Marked white vans are equipped with the latest in photo radar technology. They record vehicle speed and capture clear images of the driver and the license plate – regardless of the time of day or weather conditions. Tickets are sent by certified mailed to drivers within six business days.
The vans are staffed by specially trained State Troopers. Signs will be placed on project locations where photo enforcement will be occurring.
