The Illinois Tollway has completed construction of the new, full access, interchange on the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) at Eola Road. - Access from eastbound I-88 to Eola Road via Diehl Road

I-PASS Only Toll Collection
The new Eola Road Interchange provides all-electronic toll collection via I-PASS, the first on the Illinois Tollway system. With more than 80 percent I-PASS usage on the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88), the new Eola Road Interchange is an ideal location for an I-PASS Only toll facility.
Toll plazas are located on ramps carrying traffic to and from the east. I-PASS toll rates are set at 30 cents for passenger vehicles, and truck rates range from $1.15 to $3.00 during daytime hours, with overnight discounts offered. Cash-paying customers have access to existing interchanges at Farnsworth Avenue two miles to the west or IL Route 59 two miles to the east.
Project Schedule
Construction of the new interchange began in April and was completed on schedule to open overnight on Friday, November 20, 2009. During construction of the new interchange:
- Mainline I-88 traffic was shifted to the left to keep three lanes open in each direction during ramp construction.
- The Illinois Prairie Path was detoured until a new, permanent route was completed, following the path of the new ramps on the north side of the interchange.
- Work impacted travel on local roads including Diehl Road, Bilter Road and Eola Road while resurfacing and widening work was completed.
Project Cost
The project was completed on schedule at $36 million, about $14 million under budget, and includes construction, design, utility relocation and right-of-way purchase. Under guidelines set by the Illinois Tollway Interchange Policy, agreements between the city, county and Tollway call for the Illinois Tollway to cover up to half of the project's costs, with DuPage County and the City of Aurora funding the remainder of construction and right-of-way costs.
