Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-94/I-80)
Overnight and off-peak closures are scheduled for pavement striping and barrier wall work.
October 19 21 Overnight Lane Closures
- One northbound lane between Dempster Street and Lake Cook Road will close at 7 p.m. tonight, October 19, for pavement striping and a traffic shift. A second lane will close at 11 p.m. When all lanes reopen by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, the Express Lane will close at Willow Road, shortening the length of the Express Lane. North of Willow Road, three contiguous lanes will be traveling on the right shoulder and two right lanes. Traffic exiting at Willow Road must remain in the two Local Lanes on the right. The next exit from the Express Lane will be Lake Cook Road. The same closures are planned on Tuesday, October 20, as a contingency in case of bad weather.
- One northbound lane between Dundee Road and Lake Cook Road will close at 7 p.m. tonight, October 19, for noisewall construction. A second lane will close at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20. A similar closure is planned on Tuesday, October 20 including ten, full closures of 15-minute durations beginning after midnight. The same closures, including ten full closures after midnight, are scheduled as a contingency on Wednesday night, October 21.
- One northbound lane between Central Road and Milwaukee Avenue will close after midnight tonight, October 19, for erosion control work. The lane will reopen by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20. The same closure is planned on Tuesday night, October 20.
- Two southbound lanes between the OHare Oasis and Franklin Street will close at 8 p.m. tonight, October 19, for pavement striping and a traffic shift. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20. At that time traffic will be shifted to the left with four contiguous lanes on the left shoulder and three left lanes and a work zone on the right.
- Two southbound lanes between Cicero Avenue and 131st Street will close at 7 p.m. tonight, October 19, for rumble strip work. The lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20.
- One northbound lane between IL Route 176 and Atkinson Road will close at 7 p.m. tonight, October 19, for excavation work. The lane will reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20. The same closure is planned on Tuesday, October 20.
October 20 23 Off-Peak Lane Closures
- Traffic will be shifted to the right side of the ramp carrying southbound River Road traffic to southbound I-294 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, for ramp construction work. The same closure is planned daily through Friday, October 23.
Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88)
Lane closures are scheduled for pavement striping and overhead sign work.
October 19 - Overnight Lane Closures
- One westbound lane will close between York Road and Spring Road at 8 p.m. tonight, October 19, for rumble strip work. A second lane will close at 10 p.m. At that time, one lane will close on the ramp carrying northbound I-294 traffic to westbound I-88, and all Open Road Tolling lanes at the York Road Toll Plaza will close, with all traffic directed to the cash side of the plaza. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20. The same closures are planned on Tuesday, October 20, as a contingency.
- One eastbound lane between 22nd Street and Salt Creek will close at 8 p.m. tonight, October 19, for rumble strip work. The lane will reopen by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20.
October 20 - 23 Off-Peak Lane Closures
- One lane in each direction on Eola Road between I-88 and the IL Prairie Path Bridge will close from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, for pavement work. The same closure is planned daily through Friday, October 23, following the same schedule.
- One eastbound lane between Spring Road and Salt Creek will close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, for punch list work.
- One lane on the exit ramp from eastbound I-88 to Midwest Road will close from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, for electrical work. The same closure is planned on Wednesday, October 21, following the same schedule.
Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90)
Overnight lane closures are scheduled for pavement striping work.
October 19 Overnight Lane Closures
- One lane in each direction at Mt. Prospect Road will close at 9 p.m. tonight, October 19, for pavement striping work. A second lane will close at 11 p.m. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20.
- One westbound lane between Anthony Road and Genoa Road will close at 6 p.m. tonight, October 19, for pavement repair work. The lane will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20.
Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355)
Overnight lane closures are scheduled for roadway sign work.
October 19 20 Off-Peak Lane Closures
- Two lanes in each direction between 71st Street and Maple Avenue will close at 8 p.m. tonight, October 19, for overhead sign work. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20. The same closures are planned on Tuesday, October 20.
Work Zone Safety
A 45 m.p.h. speed limit is in effect 24/7 in all construction zones, whether or not workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. Illinois State Police have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker. Keep Workers Alive Drive 45.
