11/16/2009 Illinois Tollway Construction Alerts

• One southbound lane between Grand Avenue and O’Plaine Road will close at 7 p.m. tonight, November 16, for barrier wall work. The lane will reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17. The same closure is planned on Tuesday, November 17.

• Two northbound lanes between Kedzie Avenue and the Cal-Sag Channel will close from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, for noisewall work.

• Off-peak closures are scheduled between O’Plaine Road and Grand Avenue on Tuesday, November 17, for electrical work. One northbound lane will close from 7 a.m. to noon and one southbound lane will close from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• One northbound lane between Milwaukee Avenue and West Lake Avenue will close from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, for bridge work.

• One lane in each direction of the Edens Spur between the toll plaza and I-294 will close from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, for bridge work. The same closures are planned daily through Friday, November 20.

• One northbound lane between Sanders Road and Dundee Road will close from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, for sewer work. Similar closures are planned daily through Friday, November 20.

• One eastbound lane between the EJ&E Railroad and Eola Road will close at 4 p.m. today, November 16, for pavement striping work. A second lane will close at 7 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17. At that time, traffic will be shifted off the median shoulder and traffic will be traveling in the standard, three lane configuration. Similar closures are scheduled in the westbound direction on Tuesday night, November 17.

• One eastbound lane between the Fox River Bridge and IL Route 56 will close at 8 p.m. tonight, November 16, for pavement striping work. At midnight, the eastbound and westbound entrance and exit ramps at the IL Route 31 and Orchard Road Interchanges will close intermittently to complete pavement striping. The ramps are not scheduled to be closed simultaneously. All ramps and lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17.

• One lane in each direction on Eola Road between I-88 and IL Prairie Path Bridge will close between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, for grading work.

• One lane in each direction on Bilter Road between the I-88 ramps and Eola Road will close between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, for storm sewer work.

• One westbound lane will close between the EJ&E Railroad and Eola Road from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, for barrier wall removal work.

• One eastbound lane will close between the EJ&E Railroad and Eola Road from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, for barrier wall removal work.

• One lane in each direction from I-39 to the Kishwaukee River will close from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, for striping work. The same closure is planned Wednesday, November 18.

A 45 m.p.h. speed limit is in effect 24/7 in all construction zones, whether or not workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. Illinois State Police have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker. Keep Workers Alive – Drive 45.
