About Illinois State Police District 15

District 15 is frequently referred to as "unique" in comparison to the other 21 State Police Districts because of the dual-reporting responsibilities to the Illinois State Police and the Illinois Tollway.

Trooper and Car

All State Police administrative and operational policies and procedures apply to District 15, while facility and budgeting issues are administered by the Illinois Tollway.

Troopers with Cars and Motorcycles

District 15 was created in 1958 and was first known as the Illinois State Police Tollway Battalion. Since that time, District 15 has moved from its original headquarters in Oak Brook to Downers Grove, has expanded its area of responsibility to 286 miles of predominantly metropolitan interstate, and currently has a sworn head count of approximately 180 troopers. Thirteen Tollway employees are supplied to District 15 as support staff.
