Annual Family Safety Fair
July 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Illinois Tollway and Illinois State Police District 15 want motorists to reach their destinations safely and conveniently – and have some fun along the way.
Visit the Annual Family Safety Fair at the Illinois Tollway's Downers Grove headquarters on Saturday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Family Safety Fair offers a variety of activities and resources including:
- Free child safety seat inspections and installations
- Free kids' identification cards
- Distracted driving information
- Seatbelt safety demonstrations
- Touch-a-Truck
- Radio Disney's Rockin' Road Crew
- Crafts for the kids, healthy treats and more
Illinois State Police District 15 services include:
- Child Safety Seat Inspection and Installation (includes correct safety seat positioning and sizing)
- Kid's identification cards
- Safety seat recall detection information
- Roll 15-Rollover Simulator and The Convincer demonstrating the importance of seatbelts and injury prevention
- K-9 unit demonstrates how dogs help District 15 troopers
- Tactical response truck and motorcycle exhibits
Emergency and Roadway Vehicle
The Tollway's Touch-a-Truck exhibit allows kids to:
- Climb aboard a 26-ton snow-plow truck or Highway Emergency Lane Patrol vehicles
- Get a close-up look at State Police squad cars and motorcycles
Radio Disney Road Crew
Radio Disney's Rockin' Road Crew, powered by JULIE, call 8-1-1 before you dig, will be onsite from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Join in for games, fun and prizes. The Road Crew gets kids and families dancing along to songs from their favorite Radio Disney artists.
Chicago Fire Soccer Club
The Chicago Fire Soccer Club's Fire Express Street Team will offer activities for kids of all ages, including an obstacle course where visitors can test their soccer skills. Visitors to the Family Safety Fair can stop by the Chicago Fire tent to register to win tickets to the Chicago Fire v. Portland Timbers on July 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Toyota Park or for other fun prizes. Tickets package for all games will be also be on sale.
DuPage Children's Museum
DuPage Children's Museum, named 2010 BEST Chicago Museum by Nickelodeon Parents' Picks, will bring a sampling of some of its popular interactive exhibits – Build it Big, Window Art and Pin Screen – so that families can experience a sample of the cultural attraction "where learning comes in to play®!"
