Both the initial pre-paid toll amount and the minimum rate to replenish I-PASS accounts are $20 for customers who open new accounts. Additionally, the deposit required to obtain an I-PASS transponder is $10 for all account types.
Existing customers who replenish their account automatically
To reduce the automatic replenishment amount from $40 to $20, existing customers log on to their I-PASS account and click the "Update Credit Card" link, call 1-800-UC-IPASS (800-824-7277) or visit a Tollway Customer Service Center.
Existing customers who replenish their accounts manually
A $10 deposit refund will automatically be applied to their I-PASS account balances in the form of a credit to their pre-paid toll accounts. Cash refunds will not be issued. Existing customers also can have their minimum rate to replenish I-PASS accounts reduced from $40 to $20 upon request.

If you represent a government organization wishing to establish an I-PASS account, please email our customer service to make arrangements. Vehicles engaged in police, fire or emergency services (including public or private ambulance services) may be eligible for an "exempt" I-PASS account in accord with the Toll Highway Act.

Pick up an I-PASS transponder for a passenger vehicle on your next visit to the grocery store. Nearly 200 Jewel-Osco locations in Illinois provide I-PASS transponders and I-PASS gift cards. Jewel-Osco applies a $2.90 service charge per transponder.
I-PASS transponders for passenger vehicles or trucks/commercial vehicles are available at six Road Ranger locations in Northwest Illinois. Gift cards are available at Road Ranger locations.
Activation is required for transponders obtained at a Jewel-Osco or Road Ranger location. Activation instructions are included in the transponder box. Once activated, transponders are ready for use within 24 hours in Illinois and within 48 hours in other states that accept I-PASS.

Download and complete an I-PASS application and mail it with payment. It is $30 to open an account ($10 refundable deposit/$20 prepaid tolls). Make checks or money orders payable to the Illinois Tollway.
