In April, the Illinois Tollway Board of Directors agreed to advance a $4 billion project to rebuild and widen the Central Tri-State Tollway (I-294) between 95th Street in Oak Lawn and Balmoral Avenue in Rosemont.

ON THE ROAD

Look for construction work to improve and maintain interchanges on I-90 this summer at Barrington Road and in the Rockford area.

The new diverging diamond interchange at Elmhurst Road is scheduled to fully open in June. Not familiar with diverging diamonds. Watch this video to learn more.

At the Farnsworth Avenue Interchange, all traffic is shifted on Farnsworth Avenue and lane closures on I-88 will be scheduled as needed to complete bridge and ramp work this fall. Ramps remain open during construction.

Repair and maintenance work will be scheduled throughout the Tri-State Tollway this summer. This includes a two-year project underway on the Mile Long Bridge, to replace pavement and repair bridge joints.

Construction is ongoing to build the new Tollway from I-290 to Illinois Route 83. Local traffic is traveling on frontage roads into the fall to make way for construction.
