I-PASS 101

Save Money. Make Sure Your Vehicle Has a Transponder.

The Tollway encourages I-PASS users to have a transponder in their vehicles in order to receive the 50 percent discount on tolls.

Transponders can be shared between cars and motorcycles registered to the same I-PASS account, but the transponder must be properly mounted in your vehicle whenever you drive on the Tollway.

Convenient for families and businesses, I-PASS Shared Balance allows all transponders to draw from the same, single prepaid account balance.

Be safe and put a transponder in your vehicle. No transponder, no discount.

STATE OF ILLINOIS

What? 200 Years Old? Illinois Doesn't Look a Day Over 158!

2018 Art ContestHelp us celebrate Illinois' Bicentennial by participating in the Tollway's 2018 Map Cover Art Contest!

In celebration of all the different things that make Illinois a great state, we invite high school students to submit artwork that focuses on #IllinoisProud. The contest is open to students enrolled in art class at more than 300 public high schools in the 12 counties served by the Tollway.

Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to, one or more of the following themes:

  • History - What people and events have left their mark?
  • Landmarks - What are the best places to visit and things to see?
  • Commerce and Industry - What is Illinois best known for?
  • Transportation - There are so many different modes of transportation - what stands out above the rest?

Top 10 entries will be displayed online, as well as in all Illinois Tollway oases, and the public will be invited to vote for their favorite in late October. The winner will be featured on the 2018 Illinois Tollway Map cover.

Family Safety Fair Header   Move Over banner

Make plans to join us at the 10th Annual Family Safety Fair on Saturday, September 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tollway headquarters in Downers Grove, as part of National Child Passenger Safety Week. As always, kids' IDs and safety seat checks are No. 1 on our list, but this year we've added even more fun for all ages including The Morton Arboretum, DuPage Children's Museum, as well as food trucks from Sweet Ride and Robinson's No. 1 Ribs.

Best of all, the activities are free!

The Move Over Law requires drivers to slow down and move over a lane for any emergency vehicle or passenger vehicle with flashing lights. This protects firefighters, police officers, maintenance workers on the job. If found guilty of an offense, you can be fined a minimum of $100 and a maximum of $10,000.

Slow Down. Move Over. Save Lives.

Vehicles traveling the Tollway are required to have clear, unobscured and properly mounted license plates. The Illinois State Police enforce this 24/7.

Obscuring plates to avoid tolls is against the law and can result in court fines, fees, missed work and points on your license.
