South Tri-State Tollway (I-294) Repair Projects
South Tri-State Tollway (I-294)
The Illinois Tollway has scheduled roadway, bridge and ramp repairs on the South Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-80) from the Bishop Ford Freeway (Illinois Route 394) to 95th Street, including work at toll plazas. In addition, roadway drainage, lighting, retaining wall and guardrail improvements are scheduled.
Construction Update (12/17/18)
Work on the South Tri-State is complete with the exception of the 159th Street Interchange Project.
For information on work at the 159th Street Interchange, check the project fact sheet.
Please check the Daily Construction Alert for up-to-date closure information on routine maintenance closures.
Lane closures and traffic shifts are necessary to provide a work zone and safely accommodate construction.
At the I-80 Toll Plazas, no weekend closures are scheduled. At times, all open road tolling lanes may be closed and traffic routed through the cash lanes, where I-PASS is accepted. Cash lanes closures will be scheduled during off-peak, weekday hours and will not occur when open road tolling lanes are closed.
These roadway, bridge and ramp repairs are necessary to extend the life of the roadway and bridges and provide safe and convenient travel for Tollway customers.
Work Zone Safety
The Illinois Tollway is committed to ensuring that the South Tri-State Tollway (I-294/I-80) remains safe for both drivers and workers during construction, which is part of the agency’s overall commitment to roadway safety.
A 55 mph work zone speed limit will be in effect in areas with construction on the Tri-State Tollway.
