I-355 Roadway Widening
Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355)
The Illinois Tollway is widening a 2-mile segment of the Veterans Memorial Tollway (I-355) between Butterfield Road (Illinois Route 56) and Roosevelt Road (Illinois Route 38) to improve travel and provide congestion relief. The work will also include repairs to the existing roadway and bridges.
Construction Update (8/13/18)
Between Army Trail Road Illinois Route 53, traffic is shifted into a split configuration. The shift will provide a work zone in the middle with two lanes on the right and one express lane on the left. Traffic traveling in the express lane will not have access to exits between Illinois Route 53 and Army Trail Road, including Roosevelt Road, North Avenue and Army Trail Road, as well as cash lanes at the Army Trail Toll Plaza. Trucks are prohibited from using this lane.
Please check the Daily Construction Alert for up-to-date closure information.
The widening of I-355 in this area will improve continuity of travel. The improvements will improve mobility and help reduce travel times.
The Tollway is committed to “Building Green” and minimizing the environmental impact of construction by reducing, recycling and reusing materials.
